Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI) was officially launched on January 30, 2019

Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI), Taiwan’s first and the only national scientific R&D center for IC design and semiconductor fabrication, was officially launched on January 30, 2019.

In response to the trends of emerging intellectualized electronic systems, National Chip Implementation Center (CIC) and National Nano Device Laboratories (NDL) officially consolidate into TSRI and continue to support IC-related services, facilities and platforms to the academia in Taiwan.

The establishment of TSRI is to reach vertical integration. Besides providing R&D services and talent cultivation training in IC design, testing and processing, the Institute supports various applications while promotes industry-university cooperation and international linkage.

In the opening ceremony on Jan. 30th, TSRI also signed MOUs with TIARA (Taiwan IC Industry and Academia Research Allicance) and SEMI Taiwan respectively for promoting industry-academia collaboration and workforce development programs.

TSRI’s AI System Development Lab (AI Lab) was announced in the press conference. In the future, it will operate in one-stop service mode, assisting and encouraging academia to transform creative ideas into practical AI chip systems.
