Taiwan Delegation Attends SecuTech Thailand 2019 Working Together to Expand Overseas Markets

In order to promote high-quality disaster prevention techniques of Taiwan to Southeast Asian areas, Vice President Kuang-Chong Wu of National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs) led the NARLabs delegation to Bangkok from October 28 to October 31 for exhibiting in the SecuTech Thailand 2019 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC). NARLabs will not only introduce the 5 solutions to SecuTech Thailand 2019, include SmartES, Safety and Disaster Prevention Management System for Intelligent Bridges, On-site Earthquake Early Warning System (OEEWS), Integration Platform of Multi-Dimensional Information Fusion and Smart Flood Proofing, but also try to increase the scientific and technical cooperation between Southeast Asian countries.

The SecuTech Thailand is a technical exhibition for promoting professional and multiple security and safety techniques and the major topic for 2019 is “Smart City.” The 4-day exhibition is expected to attract more than 3 countries and 260 exhibitors. This year, NARLabs delegation is organized by the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) and the National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC), not only to exhibit their excellent cutting-edge technology but to link with relevant smart technological institutions and buyers of security industry to strengthen on-going cooperation opportunities and investment relationships for both parties.

It is worth mentioning that NARLabs prepared 5 topics for the SecuTech 2019. First, the “SmartES” is the powerful platform can display 3D GIS, BIM, satellite imagery, UAV scanning data, LiDAR point cloud data and related 3D modeling, etc. information; which can be applied for flooding, earthquake, bridge, building, dam, cultural site, traffic and safety monitoring in 5D smart cities.

The second one is “Safety and Disaster Prevention Management System for Intelligent Bridges,” which is proposed for managing the problems of material deterioration, earthquake, and flooding which can help bridge authority to implement the decision-making for bridge maintenance by using the intelligent management technology; the related information of bridge status during the different period of life-cycle also can be preserved for related reference such as design or maintenance works.

Furthermore, the third topic is the “On-site Earthquake Early Warning System (OEEWS)”. It can detect the tiny P-wave and estimate the intensity of the follow-coming earthquake immediately through AI technology. When the estimated intensity is higher than the warning threshold, it will raise alarm and activate the emergency responses to reduce the related seismic loss by the smart IoT. The proposed OEEWS can work alone without the need of seismic networks, as the result, it is very suitable for any smart factory or smart city, not only can be used for the warning but also can be applied to control emergent responses automatically. In the past few years, the OEEWS had validated its value in many semiconductor factories, high-speed rails, schools and buildings in Taiwan.

The Fourth-topic named “The Integration Platform of Multi-Dimensional Information Fusion” integrates numerical terrain data, UAV image, the commonly used Shapefiles to display the three-dimensional spatial model on the browser directly. Through the perspective and penetration techniques, the actual terrain variation and all kinds of data underground can be shown straightforwardly, such as underground pipeline information, underground fault information, etc. According to the fused information based on the proposed platform can assist decision-makers in preparing the disaster reducing in ordinary and reconstructions after a hazard event.

Finally, “The smart flood proofing system” integrates rainfall and tidal predictions to publish inundation alarms. The system integrates IoT sensing data, rainfall scenario data, high-performance computing capacity, and the newest AI techniques to offer time-scheduled trustworthy prediction information by brief, website, adopting results by API interface, or other forms.

According to the proposed 5 techniques in SecuTech 2019 exhibition, NARLabs hopes to recognize the advanced disaster prevention techniques of Taiwan and to accelerate the related business extension in the Southeastern Asian market and to promote disaster prevention techniques on the world stage.
