Czech Scientific and Business Representatives Visit NARLabs, Establishing Czech-Taiwan Collaboration in Satellite Technology

As part of the much-anticipated visit from members of the Czech senate, leaders from diverse fields and business representatives paid a visit on September 2nd to NARLab’s Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI) and National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC) in Hsinchu city. Among them were Vice-president Dr. Havlas and Dr. Sychrová from Czech Academy of Sciences, the president of the Brothers of Mercy Hospital in Brno, and many other delegates.

Dr. Wen-kuan Yeh, vice-president of NARLabs, represented our institution, and together with the general director of NCHC, Dr. Shepherd Shi, an in-depth tour was given of the two research centers’ facilities, including TSRI’s cleanroom and AI System Development Lab, as well as breakthroughs in NCHC’s research relating to VR and cyber security.

Due to limitations brought on by the pandemic, many international links now rely on the internet for communication. Dr. Havlas’ physical visit all the way from Czech Academy of Sciences is a highly meaningful event, promoting future collaboration between National Space Organization (NSPO) and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics. Moreover, NSPO is initializing collaboration with the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University and the Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics of Czech Technical University in Prague through web communication. These joint efforts will open a new and exciting chapter in high-tech collaboration between the two countries.
