5th NARLabs-NST Joint Workshop Moves Online, Unhindered by COVID-19

On September 17th, NARLabs held its fifth joint workshop with long-term Korean partner, National Research Council of Science and Technology (NST). Originally, the workshop was to be held in Taipei, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event was done online to safeguard everyone’s health and safety.

After establishing ties in 2012, both research institutes have been hosting joint workshops every two years and renewed their MOU in August 2015. Similar to NARLabs’ mission, South Korea’s NST works with up to 25 government-funded research institutes to both promote and integrate scientific and technological development in the country. This year’s joint workshop focused on high-performance computing, science & technology information services, and space science, with an aim at providing a collaborative platform to share ongoing research progress and future research plans, as well as exchange information about development trends in these fields.

President Kuang-Chong Wu of NARLabs and Chairman Kwangyun Wohn of NST cohost the online workshop and gave opening remarks, in hopes that discussions and input from the workshop’s participants will further explore new topics for future research collaboration.
