On January 13, 2022, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) began accepting applications from eligible rocket research teams for use of its "Short-Term Sounding Rocket Launch Site". The site is another important milestone for Taiwan's space development since the Space Development Act passed its third reading in the Legislative Yuan on May 31st last year.

Following the prerequisites of lawfulness and safety, MOST designated Mudan Bay lots 742-1 and 743-1 of Xuhai Village, Mudan Township, Pingtung County, as the "Short-Term Sounding Rocket Launch Site". The new site is expected to promote the development of space science and technology in Taiwan and pROVide more types of scientific facilities for sounding rocket experiments. Application for use of the site is available to the executive or commissioned units of scientific and technological research and development projects which are subsidized, commissioned, or funded by MOST so that they may conduct technical validation or experiments using rockets.
