On May 12, a memorial ceremony was held for Dr. Wen-Kuan Yeh, Acting Vice President of NARLabs and Director of the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI), who passed away on April 28. All those at NARLabs offer their sincere condolences for Dr. Yeh’s passing.
Dr. Yeh earned his Ph.D. from the Institute of Electronics at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. After working for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), he then joined the academic community, holding teaching positions at the Department of Electrical Engineering at National University of Kaohsiung and the International College of Semiconductor Technology at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. In addition, he served as Director General of NARLabs’ former National Nano Device Laboratories, Director General of the National Chip Implementation Center, and at the time of his passing, was Acting Vice President of NARLabs and Director General of the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI).
Dr. Yeh was a kind, amiable person who worked conscientiously and showed great responsibility. He was not only an important pillar of NARLabs, but also made significant contributions toward professional training, academic research and development, and communication and cooperation between industry, academia, and research institutes. The passing of Dr. Yeh is truly a great loss for the semiconductor research community in Taiwan.
