TWAREN and GÉANT connected

After being interconnected with the two national research and education networks (NRENs) in Europe, CESNET of the Czech Republic and SURFnet of the Netherlands, TWAREN (Taiwan Advanced Research and Education Network) has taken a further step in interconnecting with Europe’s main multi-gigabit computer network for research and education purposes, GÉANT, with connection node in New York. This new interconnection imparts opportunities for cooperation in research and education between Taiwan and EU member countries.

GÉANT is co-funded by 34 European NRENs and the European Commission, and operated by DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe). Together with other regional research networks (such as the US Inteet2 Network and Canada’s CANARIE) it connects, GÉANT provides the most enhanced services and widest geographical reach of any network of its kind in the world, with cutting-edge standards of reliability and innovation.
