When the “Tzini” freighter from Malta ran aground and spilt the massive oil off Suao Harbor on Dec. 24, 2006, NSPO immediately arranged FORMOSAT-2 for taking emergency images. After the incident, NSPO acquired the easte coast image of Taiwan successfully in the moing on Dec. 25 and has continuously monitored this area for a week. The analyses of FORMOSAT-2 images had already been pROVided to the Environmental Protection Administration for assisting the Administration to control the oil spill from spreading.
