The memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC) and Japan’s National Institute of Informatics (NII) was signed. This MOU facilitates the network connection of TWAREN (Taiwan Advanced Research and Education Network) and Japan’s SINET3, which was constructed by the NII. The NII is Japan's primary academic research body, chartered with advancing research and development in information-related fields, including networking, software and content. And SINET3 with backbone bandwidth of 40Gbps is one of the world's most high-powered research and education networks, supporting cutting-edge science at 700 universities and research institutes across Japan covering the fields of high-energy physics, nuclear fusion, astronomy, gene information analysis, super-computing, nano-technology, etc.
