NCHC won the SC09 Xnet award

The SC09, sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery and the IEEE Computer Society, offered a complete technical education program and exhibition to showcase the many ways high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis lead to advances in scientific discovery, research, education and commerce.

This year's event in Portland, Oregon, USA from November 14-20 drew about 1,900 participants and 318 exhibitors. The exhibitor from the NARL's National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC) was embedded with the experimental technology demonstration on the High Performance Digital Media Network (HPDMnet) led by Northweste University, USA.

The HPDMnet, which won the SC09 Xnet (Extreme Networks) award, demonstrated an experimental network research initiative that is designing and implementing the first international high performance service created for high quality, large-scale digital media, including support for extremely high volume flows.

Other exhibitors for the HPDMnet demonstration award came from Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information, National Center for Database Marketing, and the Netherlands National Computing Facilities. The other two SC09 Xnet awards went to the demonstrations of 12X InfiniBand QDR (96Gbps) and Multi-Layer Application-Aware Network PROVisioning, and Grooming Using OpenFlow.
