A paper from NSPO cited outstanding in the 2009 IACC

Three associate researchers of NSPO receive Outstanding Paper Award in 2009 International Automatic Control ConferenceThree associate researchers of NSPO receive Outstanding Paper Award in 2009 International Automatic Control Conference

The 2009 International Automatic Control Conference (IACC) organized by Taiwan's Chinese Automatic Control Society was held from November 27-29 in Taipei.

A paper entitled "Guidance, navigation, attitude estimation and control design for satellite asynchronous imaging" by Hao-Chi Chang, Wen-Lung Chiang and Feng-Tai Hwang from the NARL's National Space Organization (NSPO) was selected as one of the outstanding papers from a total of 264 papers submitted to the conference's best paper competition.

The said paper, to be published in Asian Joual of Control, illustrates a complete suite of algorithms from satellite attitude guidance, navigation, estimation and control in asynchronous imaging mode. With calculated angular profiles, dedicated guidance law was proposed with the consideration of onboard implementation. Details of attitude estimations and control designs may be found in this paper along with high fidelity 6DoFs simulations where sufficient attitude profile tracking performance may be observed. This result may further help the evaluation of satellite altitude control subsystem components required for dedicated attitude control performance.
