NSPO takes part in AMS-02

The NARL's National Space Organization (NSPO) is taking part in the program of the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02), a particle physics experiment module that is to be mounted on the International Space Station.

The AMS-02 is designed to study the formation of the universe and search for evidence of dark matter and antimatter. In the program, the NARL-NSPO is responsible for thermal vacuum testing of the instrument electronic components, and system thermal design and testing. The testing of the AMS-02 module was completed at the European Space Research and Technology Centre facility of the European Space Agency in the Netherlands on April 16, 2010. And launch is targeted for November, 2010 on Space Shuttle Endeavor flight.

The AMS-02 program is led by 1976 Nobel laureate Samuel Chao Chung Ting, an American particle physicist who had studied at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.
