Dr. Koichi Kitazawa and associates visited STPI

After attending the 2009 Taiwan-Japan Science and Technology Forum organized by Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, Dr. Koichi Kitazawa, the president of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), visited the Science and Technology Policy Research and Information Center (STPI) on September 7, 2009. With a seminar at the STPI, Dr. Kitazawa elaborated JST’s role and strategies in implementing the science and technology basic plan that was drawn up based on the Science and Technology Basic Law every five year by the Japanese govement, and gave a glimpse of JST’s outstanding achievements in 2008. Two days later, Ms. Junko Okayama, a fellow in science and technology policy research in Asian countries, from the Center for Research and Development Strategy, JST’s affiliated center for strategic planning, and Dr. Atsushi Sunami, a professor and special assistant to the president of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, visited the STPI. They conferred with Dr. Bou-Wen Lin, the director general, and the staff on a mutual interest in science and technology policy research.
